Philosophy
The purpose of Dog Day Care at Hickory Springs Farm is to provide a safe and healthy play environment where dogs can play and interact with each other off leash while their owners are away. This environment is meant to enrich their spirit, increase their social skills, offer an off-leash area to exercise their body, and give hours of play to stimulate their mind. Supervised by caring handlers, our day care offers an educational alternative to being left home alone, with exercise, socialization and opportunities to learn new skills while interacting with other dogs. We have two large play yards, ndoors and outdoor, allowing for safe and comfortable play all year long.
Our Leadership
In October of 2006, we opened the doors of our Dog Day Care, under the experienced and capable management of Linda Ludwig. Her experience includes work at the Chester County SPCA as an Adoption Counselor and Assistant Kennel Coordinator, SmithKline Beecham as a Certified Lab Animal Technician and at Just B Paws Doggie Daycare as a Day Care Specialist. She earned a certification in Temperament Testing for Shelters and Kennels and in 2006 earned her ABKA Pet Care Technician certification. Our playgroups are steadily growing in size and play dates are filling the calendar.
Age- 4 months or older
Sex- Spayed/neutered over 6 months of age
Shots- Bordetella (kennel cough), DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus) and Rabies shot at 6 months
Temperament Screening - $5 fee Prior to enrollment in day care. All dogs must pass a temperant test to assure that they are boh dog and people friendly. Clients may bring their dog for screening Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Appointments are appreciated but not necessary.

The day care is open from 7:30 - 5:30, Monday through Friday. The dogs enjoy the following daily schedule:
- 7:30-11:30 – Morning session of play in the pen
- 11:30-1:30 – Nap time & snack time in runs/crates
- 1:30-5:30 – Afternoon session of play in the pen
We feel it is important for the dogs to have a period of rest in the middle of the day. Much like children, the dogs get cranky and more prone to altercations when they don't get a chance to nap. Snack time includes either a frosty paw or a frozen peanut butter filled kong - vital sustenance in preparation for the afternoon play session!
